Obituary for Robert Lewis McKee

Robert L. “Bob” McKee was born August 28, 1946 in Abilene the son of Lewis F. and Phyllis L. (King) McKee. Bob attended Abilene schools graduating from Abilene High School. While in high school Bob was in track and field setting several school records. Following high school, Bob attended Hutchinson Community College on a track scholarship before enlisting in the United States Navy.

On June 3, 1986 Robert was united in marriage to Helen Morilla at Clarkfield Air Base, Angeles City, Philippines. He served in the Navy from 1966 until his retirement in 1989. While in the Navy Bob was a Cryptologic Supervisor.

He enjoyed watching sports, playing pool, golf, and cooking. He loved making food. Bob loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed watching his children’s sports activities.

Robert passed away Friday, December 22, 2017 at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita. He is survived by his loving wife Helen of the home in Salina; daughter Cristina McCoy and her husband Matt of Kansas City, Missouri, sons Trevor McKee and his wife Tara of Abilene, Tony McKee of Quesnel, British Columbia, Canada, Todd McKee and his wife Deana of Winfield, Maryland; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his infant brother Max and his parents.

Cremation is planned there will be no visitation. Funeral services for Bob will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Abilene Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Abilene High School Track & Field and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
