Obituary for Doris Larson (Hoover)

Doris Lucille (Hoover) Larson, 96, died early morning Wednesday May 9th, 2018 at Brown Memorial Home in Abilene, KS.
Doris was born in Sutphen Mill, Kansas community June 7, 1921, the daughter of David B. and Susan E. (Page) Hoover. She grew up on the family farm in the moonlight area, and graduated from Dickinson County Community High School, Chapman, KS.
She worked at J.B. Ehrsam’s in Enterprise during WWII in the foundry as a draftsman. She felt privileged and honored to be a part of the war effort.
On March 12, 1944 she married John C. Larson and they farmed in the Pearl area, living their lifetime in Dickinson County.
She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Enterprise, Kansas and served her church well in the many capacities giving of her time and talents.
Survivors include: Two daughters and their spouses – Lovene Sue (Larson) Clennan, husband Dennis M. Clennan, Hutchinson; Doran Lou (Larson) Clemence, husband Charles R. Clemence, Abilene; Four grandchildren – Angela Reiff, husband Terry, Hope; Brian Clennan, wife Courtney, Hutchinson; Matthew Langdon, Abilene; Sally Vance, husband Bart, Olathe; Matt Clemence, Solomon. Eleven great-grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband John of 59 ½ years, her parents, siblings Irene Hoover, Miriam Nichols, Viola Boles, baby Robert Hoover, Paul Hoover, Dale Hoover and Dean Hoover. Brother Eldon Hoover survives.
Funeral will be at the First Baptist Church of Enterprise on Monday, May 14th 2018 at 10:00 A.M. Family will receive friends Sunday evening May 13, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home of Abilene, Kansas. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery east of Enterprise. Memorials may be given to the Salina Rescue Mission or the First Baptist Church of Enterprise. Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW Third St., Abilene, Kansas 67410.
